Volunteer of the Month

May - Jeremy Johnson

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and celebrate mental health professionals who make an impact within their communities.

Jeremy Johnson,  Director of Clinical Services at the SD Human Services Center, was awarded as United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton's Volunteer of the Month for May 2019. Johnson has been instrumental in his volunteer role at Servant Hearts Clinic – as a Discharge Planner for patients.

Servant Hearts Executive Director, Frani Kieffer, who nominated Johnson for the award, states “Jeremy is always willing to do whatever is needed for Servant Hearts Clinic and the patients. Jeremy has a patient and kind personality that welcomes any and all. Jeremy embodies the values of United Way, especially that we are all ‘united together’. Jeremy unites everyone around him and helps to ensure that everyone feels united in our community.”

Featured volunteer opportunites in education, income and health.

United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, financial stability and health: the building blocks for a good life. But we can't do it alone. We need the heads, hands and hearts of committed people like you to help us tackle the problems facing our communities.  Each one of us has special talents. Things we can to help. Put your talents to work for your community. Volunteer.

Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best. We all have special talents. Things we can do to help. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Whether it’s reading to children, or leading financial literacy classes for hard-working families, or delivering meals to homebound seniors, there are hundreds of volunteer options available every day.

Give the gift of you. Volunteer.
