United Way In the News

United Way of Greater Yankton fights for the education, financial stability and health of every person in the greater Yankton Community. To KICK OFF United Way’s upcoming Community Campaign drive, supporting over 60 local health and human service programs, we will be hosting our 3rd annual LIVE UNITED Human Foosball Tournament on Saturday, September 8th.

Everyone is welcome to attend this family friendly event! This year, thanks to partnerships with the Meridian District and the City of Yankton, the event will be held on 3rd Street and feature food for sale, a kid zone, and other family friendly activities free of charge. Jam out to music provided by The Current 94.3, learn more about the impact United Way makes in our community, and enjoy a community event filled with foosball, food and fun!

Last year’s LIVE UNITED Human Foosball champions, the Festus Meatballers, sponsored by Charlies Pizza House and Embroidery & Screen Works, are back and ready to defend their title. In this friendly competition, teams play on life-size foosball courts, holding on to sliding PVC pipes and must stay in position as they try to score. Six players from each side compete at a time, and teams of more than six may substitute throughout the games. The team that scores the most goals by the buzzer wins!

Gather your friends, family and co-workers and register to play! To participate, each team is required to contribute $300 to United Way’s Community Campaign. Pre-registration is required and current capacity allows for a limited number of teams with a registration deadline of September 1. All registered teams are asked to submit liability forms and donations to United Way prior to the event and all team members must be 18 years old to participate. Teams can register by visiting

Proceeds will benefit United Way’s Community Campaign, supporting over 60 local health and human service programs in the greater Yankton area.

Please join us a participant, or a spectator, on Saturday, September 8th, 12noon, Meridian District, Yankton and help KICK OFF United Way of Greater Yankton’s Community Campaign drive. To learn more, call United Way at (605) 665-6766 or visit
